Vision Statement Of White Crow Farm
We are creating a community wherein the arts and self-reliance meet. White Crow Farm will serve as a West Coast Hub for growing food naturally, creating inspiration through art while celebrating the ways of a sustainable culture. It aims to foster an environment for learning skills that allow us to live more symbiotically with community and our natural environment.
Vision for White Crow Farm Project.COM
To create a website that showcases the daily life on White Crow farm, and shows the magic, resourceful nature, communication and hard work it takes to be a young farmer in today’s world. The site will act as an online community for people to come together and discuss the many topics, prospects and issues that rural and urban agriculture face.
White Crow Farm is very unique in that it is run by very passionate youth, some with strong urban roots. In their spirited journey back to the land they’ve discovered a new relationship to these roots and the artistic communities they became a part of there. Re-examining what it means to work the land, they’ve found themselves in a unique blend of urban creativity and rural ingenuity.
In many ways White Crow Farm has become a hub for connecting creative people with the land and building a community with deeper understanding and respect for nature. We see the site will have this same effect
Throughout the West Coast of North America and beyond the spirit of White Crow Farm inspires many.
Why we feel this project is important?
It is undeniable that the way things work in the world today will not for much longer. Issues like Peak Oil and the unsustainable nature of industrial agriculture make importing food from all over the world unrealistic. More and more people feel that locally grown food will become a key part of their daily life. From connecting with nearby rural farms to growing produce in vacant urban lots, the reality is that a sustainable future involves a closer connection with where our food comes from.
We hope that this site will inspire and educate youth about the importance of living sustainably while fostering a global community of knowledge sharing.
How we are going to make this happen?
In about a months time, we are going to launch a fundraising campaign with http://www.kickstarter.com. We are aiming to raise $20 000. This money will go to building the website, getting film gear for the farm, and help with a publicity campaign to get the project out to the world.
