Via our friends at freaksonline.co.uk Michael Schlegel’s photography is out of worldly, his images hold a serene stillness, the way he captures the moving landscapes spinning them in to still, calm, magical moments in time is outstanding. His images could easily be mistaken for photographs of undiscovered, deserted planets existing within another universe, far, far away. Throughout Schlegel’s series of phenomenal imagery he holds a consistent and specific grayscale colour
swatch, his unique and recognisable style. Scintillating, bright white against thick, inky black muddled up alongside silvery, charcoal create x-ray like images, no bones here though, just stunning portrayals of the worlds dramatic landscapes and hardened features. I particularly admire Schlegel’s waterfall image, the velvety, silken, giant’s sheet which drapes over the towering, statuesque rocks, swaying softly in the wind. It seems entirely silent, as if the mass of water that is plummeting down from such heights, does so with out even a single decibel of sound.
